INDO-CHINA BORDER CONFLICT EXPLAINED

#Basics of Indian china Border:

The border with Pakistan occupied Kashmir and India is called as LOC means Line Of Control. Whereas the border between China occupied Ladakh and India is called as LAC which means Line of Actual Control . LOC  is clearly defined and demarcated ,but in case of LAC both the Nations claim different borders and area which is in between the the both claimed borders is called as ADPA ( Area of different perceptions ).There are only differing claim lines, and differing perceptions of where the working border — the Line of Actual Control — lies. Moreover, there is no formal “agreement” on what these perceptions are. In the past, the Chinese side has refused to even exchange maps showing the contrasting claims.

As of today the main conflict is in the region of PANGONG lake.
But there are 3 regions where China intrusions are seen in regular
a. Pangong Lake
b. Galwan Valley
c. Kongka Pass area
#Pangong Lake Issue :
Pangong lake is situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). It is 134 km (83 mi) long and extends from India to the Tibetian Autonomous region,China . Approximately 60% of the length of the lake lies within the Tibetan Autonomous Region. The lake is 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its broadest point. All together it covers 604 km2.
All of us are familiar with climax scene of movie 3 idiots which was shooted in this area

LAC line passes through the lake . If we notice the map of lake we can notice some pointed edges in the north side of the lake and this are called as FINGERS of the lake . From the western border these fingers are denoted as F -1 to F-8 . India claims the border till F-8 on the other hand china claims that the chineese border extends upto F-4 . The area between F-4 and F-8 is ADPA here.
Both the army troops do regular patrolling in this area which led to clashes between both the troops.

In recent years, Indian troops — supported by better infastructure and equipment have stepped up the frequency of their patrolling. As a result, confrontations with their Chinese counterparts have begun to occur with increased regularity. Such confrontations are often reported in the media as one-sided “intrusions” and “transgressions”, although both sides venture into territory that the other side considers theirs.

At present, reports suggest that the Chinese have crossed over into Indian territory, stayed put, and possibly set up semi-permanent structures.

#Galwan Valley:

Galwaan valley lies in area between Aksai Chin and Ladakh. The one exception to this ADPA is the Galwan river valley, where the border is considered “settled” with no overlapping claims. Here too, there have been reports of a Chinese intrusion, with differing claims. This area is most effective because India is building a road which passes through this area heading towards North. If chineese troops occupy the valley area they could enjoy the profit of beign in heights, because it is easy to attack from heights. But Government deny these claims of intrusion in Galwan valley.

#Hot Springs Kongka pass :

This area also lies between Aksai Chin and Ladakh . Kongka pass is very small area where China could not build any military base nor any profit in actual. Intrusions in this area could be just to provoke India .

#Wide differences in Media:

Media accounts of these intrusions appear to wildly differ from each other. Some journalists and analysts have claimed that the Chinese have crossed over into what was undisputed Indian territory.

Others are reporting that there has been no intrusion whatsoever.

Recently ANI news posted a tweet as follows

#Why China is doing this :

Few claim that China wants to divert their population from corona crisis and economical decline towards Nationalism.

And the other hand few experts state that China want to proove that it is a super power to world by facings conflicts with a strong Nation like India.
